Huia Residence
Huia is located on the Grafton Campus close to the trendy Newmarket and Parnell shopping precincts, while still being a short walk away from the General Library on the City Campus.
Huia is home to 321 students each year. It is ideal for those students that like their independence, while still enjoying the student hall experience. Each floor has two bathrooms (single gender) as well as a communal kitchen and laundry facilities.
Residents here can cook their own meals or sign up for one of the meal plans available at a cost of between $60 and $100 per week.
The Residential Management team which consists of the Head of Hall, Assistant Head of Hall, two Residential Supervisors and eleven Residential Assistants provide personal support throughout your stay and arrange a number of social and recreational activities during the year.

You'll stay in a comfortable, fully-furnished single room with a small personal refrigerator. It comes with broadband internet access through our Residential Network (ResNet) system.
Each floor has two bathrooms (single gender), a communal kitchen and laundry facilities.
You'll be given a linen pack on arrival which you will need to pay a deposit of $100 for. This is refunded on return of your room key and your linen pack which must be returned clean and undamaged, at the end of your stay. The linen pack consists of a mattress protector, two sheets, duvet inner and cover, pillow, pillow case and two towels.
You're responsible for your own meals, unless you sign up to one of the meal plans available.
You can prepare your meals using the communal kitchen - there is one on each floor and a larger communal kitchen on the ground floor. Kitchens on each floor close at 10pm every night. The communal kitchen on the ground floor is available 24 hours a day.
There is a small kitchenette next to the common room on each floor which is available 24 hours a day.
There is also a vending machine on site.
Each of the common rooms have TV with Sky and free-to-air channels available. There is also a DVD player on each floor. A loan system available with over 400 DVDs, a selection of board games and gaming consoles to choose from is available to residents.
The ground floor has a communal space which has a big screen television, pool table, Fusball and table tennis.
For the pianists, there are two pianos located in the music room and on the ground floor communal space.
All residents receive membership to the University's Recreation Centre, which is a 10 minute walk away.
You can study individually or in a group in the dining hall during non-meal hours.
The communal lounge on the ground floor has computers available as well as a printer and photocopier. There is wireless connectivity available. You're also able to join up to the academic support programme which includes mentoring and group study sessions
Your room also has broadband access to the University Residential Network (ResNet).
