There are a number of self-catered privately-owned and managed student accommodation providers near the City Campus. They offer a variety of accommodation facilities and room types, from single to twin-share or double at differing weekly rental rates. Take note of the different conditions, such as the deposit or bond requirements and additional costs like your power and internet connection and application fees.

In a homestay, you live at the home of a host family and can enjoy the opportunity of experiencing life in a family home in New Zealand.
- Host families come from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and language groups, but you will often be included in normal family activities, holidays and excursions. A homestay provides you with your own separate fully furnished room, as well as breakfast and dinner each weekday and three meals daily on the weekends.
- It is important to note that as the campus of the University is situated in the central business area of Auckland, homestays are not within walking distance of the campus. They are usually in the suburbs and are at least one or two bus stages away.

If you share a house or flat with other residents for either long or short-term, then depending on the arrangements of the establishment, you will be responsible for your own:
